Our 2020 Phyllite, while young, is very approachable now. Complex and easy drinking - a great wine on its own or with food - it is sure to please. Lovely dark fruit and berries along with floral and herbal notes meld seamlessly with notes of pepper spice, mocha, vanilla and herb. There is much to like about this wine!

Vineyard Notes
Overall, 2020 was a successful growing season. After the difficult growing year in 2018 due to rain and the smaller than average harvest in 2019, our 2020 harvest burst forth with our highest yields yet. We were extremely lucky to have been missed by the late spring frosts and heavy summer rains that hit so many local vineyards, giving us plenty of sunshine, hot temperatures, and just enough rain to keep the vines from being over-stressed.

Winemaker Notes
Estate-grown and sustainably grown on our 146-acre farm, our grapes are tended by hand multiple times throughout the growing season and are harvested by hand in the fall. After vinification and barrel aging for about 18 months (sometimes longer), we will sit down at the blending table to see what wines we can make. We will always strive to make our premium reds first; however, we are usually able to make our customer favorites as well in most vintage years. From our 2020 harvest we were able to make our Leaf-Stone as well as another Premium Syrah, our Phyllite, which is making its third appearance in our tasting room line-up.
